Rainbow Savannah's

Cattery Welcomes You!

We are proud to classify ourselves as an open cattery. We understand that some catteries wish to remain as a closed cattery. However, we believe that our potential homes deserve the right to see where their 15-20 year commitment was raised. We do this to prove that our kittens are raised in a friendly and loving home. We you to know, with confidence, that we are not a backyard breeder. How else will you know that this is the right choice for you?

Our Savannah Kittens are available for viewing after their first vaccinations at approximately 9 weeks of age or once a deposit is in place. Visits without a deposit may still be considered. We are happy to give a small tour and have guests come visit our pet and show cats to get a feel for our cattery and the breed. We want you to feel comfortable with your new family addition.

We make every effort to try to match the right cat/kitten with the right person/family, even if they cannot come see them first!

While we do advocate visiting your breeder, please keep in mind that breeders are NOT pet stores! We breed as a hobby, have full time jobs, have families and (sometimes) social lives. Breeders are generally very busy people and can make time by appointment only. Tours are not available when we have very young unvaccinated kittens for their safety and our queens' privacy.

Hello. I would like to introduce myself as Kara Mihelic. Between me and my wife Xaveria (just call her X) we run a small in home cattery. We moved to Washington State in 20016 and bought our house in 2017. We have 2100sq ft of space completely dedicated to our pets and our breeding family. We are within spitting distance of the Tacoma Port and we love the temperate weather and beautiful green foliage.

We are avid lovers of animals, and that is what brought us to breeding in the first place. It was a fluke that made us fall in love with Savannah's and after we decided we couldn't live without them any more, we decided to take the plunge into breeding. We aquired our first Savannah (an F3C by the name of Balder) in 2015. He and his 3 brothers became the soul reason for us to be motivated to make their lives better than they ever could be. They are like my own flesh and blood, just as every one of our animals is.

We have in our home, 3 dogs. Our old lady Boulder was born in 2007 and came to us from the Boulder Humane Society. We believe her to be a Great Pyrenese Mix of some sort, but have never bothered to have her genetically tested in any way. She has a great personality and is a very mild tempered dog, great for socializing kittens with. We are also are proud to be owned by two corgis. Our siblings (both from the same liter) are great high energy animals! We absolutely love big round ears, and neither Doxy or Hastur are lacking in either! They were born in 2013, and are going strong!

Of our personal cats, we have 2 dsh (domestic Short hairs) both that have come to us from rescue work with cats. Badger is a Melenistic Female who came to us from a liter of kittens we rescued from the alley back in Colorado. Along with all her sibblings, we raised them in home and rehomed them when they were old enough, but we fell in love with this spunky girl. Shiva came to us from the Fort Collins Cat Rescue after being brought up from Texas. After this little gray kitten fell asleep in X's lap for almost 2 hours, there wasn't any way that we could let her stay there.

The oldest of our brood was born in 2003, Evil. Evil was born to an adoptive alley cat and was born in the attic of Xaveria's mothers house. Evil was the lone kitten in his liter and the last his mother had. Xaveria intened on giving him away, but for whatever reason, he never found a home outside of ours and is now just content to live with the purrs and the love. He is everyone's friend.

In 2015, we came across Savannahs, and after a lot of research we decided on the breed. We searched high and low for a good breeder, and it seemed that the specifications for what we wanted (a snow F3 male) were too much to ask. After we found a reputable breeder, we were fast with our first lesson as a breeder. Small kittens are very fragile. Our first choice of kitten passed away and we were left heart broken. But a few months later we were granted our second chance. A small white Savannah we decided to name Balder. While Snow Savannahs are outside of the norm, we here absolutely love the bizzar and unusual colors, which is exactly what brought us to our second Savannah, Vali.

Vali is an AllEarz cat and comes from the same lines we are using to start our cattery. Vali is a chocolate spotted chocolate dilute, which is about as far from the norm as possible. But he is standard in every other way, large ears, big spots, and an amazing personality. He was born a month after Balder, and even before we had brought home our first, we were in for another cat!

Several months after we had gotten our first two boys, and were absolutely entrawled by all the good and the bad, we were approached with the opportunity to take on an older Savannah (just a month younger than Vali) from Balder's breeder (Shonnie from West Coast Savannahs). As a standard we were a little cautious, but after a little discussion (and the absolutely stunning kitten picture) we folded for Acheron. He instantly bonded with Xaveria like Balder had with me, and we were hooked.

And that was how it was for almost two years, until we moved to Washington and Meet Rebecca from Volbarre Savannahs. We came over to her house to meet her and her at the time current liter of kittens and instantly fell in love with one of the kittens. After a month of watching them grow and building a firm bond with Rebecca, we were under mutual agreeance that we would be taking home one of her Melanistic boys that she had named, Rorschach. It fit, and we have kept it.

We are also owned by 6 wonderful rescue ferrets, and intend to keep rescuing ferrets in the future. They are wonderul little cretures and have so much energy even at an old age. Our current buisness (that is a group of ferrets if you didn't know) is (from oldest to youngest) Jake, Leon & Clair, Daisy, and Argis & Belrand.

Our greatest task here at Rainbow Savannahs is to produce happy and healthy babies while keeping the the health of all our animals at top notch. Our animals are our family, our children, and we would be more than happy to share that with you!
